When the one-size-fits-all parenting playbook just isn’t enough.

start here, AT SQUARE ONE.

we don’t believe in cookie-cutter approaches.

At Square One Psychology, we know no two children are the same — and their therapy shouldn’t be either. Our deep understanding of child development and the science of behavior change allows us to bring gold-standard treatments to life in functional, meaningful ways for each child and family we serve. We’re here to guide your family through each challenge and help celebrate every milestone.

what do we help with?

excessive worriesdifficulty speaking in certain situations ■ avoidance of people or situations non-compliance / defiancelow frustration toleranceemotional outburstsirritability difficulty making or keeping friends ■ hyperactivity / impulsivity ■ learning difficulties

when children have difficulty accepting anything, big or small, that doesn't go their way, we help them challenge their rigid thought patterns and behaviors, encouraging them to develop greater flexibility and a willingness to adapt to life’s challenges

when anxiety gets in the way of life, we help children gently challenge it, so they can break down the limits it imposes and build the confidence to reengage with the activities and relationships that matter most to them, all in a supportive and gradual way

when emotional sensitivity leads to outbursts or distress, we support children and adolescents in understanding their deep emotional experiences as a unique strength, guiding them to harness this ‘superpower’ in ways that are empowering and age-appropriate so they can navigate challenges more effectively

how do we help?

  • individual therapy

Our approach to child and adolescent therapy is active, engaging, and designed to spark real change. We help kids and teens understand how certain patterns and habits can keep them feeling stuck. By offering practical skills training, we teach them how to better work with their emotions, build motivation, and develop strategies to navigate challenges more effectively. It's all about creating the momentum they need to grow and succeed.

  • parent based treatment

We believe parents are uniquely poised to be key agents of change in their child’s life. Parent-based treatment is designed to help empower parents with practical skills and strategies to support their child’s development. What’s more, you’ll learn targeted strategies to reinforce new behaviors and effectively navigate challenges, setting your child up for lasting success at home, in school, and beyond.

  • group therapy

Group therapy offers a unique space for children and adolescents to learn and practice new skills in an engaging, supportive setting. Within a safe and nurturing environment, kids not only develop practical strategies to manage challenges but also connect with peers who share similar experiences. It’s a powerful way for them to grow, build confidence, and gain a sense of belonging while working toward positive change.

  • intensive services

In addition to the more traditional model of one-hour, once-weekly sessions, we offer intensive treatment options designed to provide a more concentrated 'dose' of therapy in a shorter amount of time. Ranging from half-day to multi-day sessions, these individualized or group-based intensives can take place in various settings—our office, your home, a child’s school, or in the community. Our intensive treatment options provide a flexible and impactful solution to meeting your child’s needs at almost any point in their treatment journey.

ready to get started?

  • Let’s start with a free 30-minute discovery call to connect, discuss your needs, and see if we're the right fit. We’ll walk you through our approach and answer any questions you have.

  • Whether you’re seeking help for the first time or turning to us after other approaches haven’t worked, we start with a comprehensive assessment to understand your child’s unique needs. This thorough evaluation informs our treatment recommendations and enables us to thoughtfully collaborate with your family on the plan moving forward. Evaluations may include: child and parent interviews, behavioral observations, questionnaires, and (with permission and when clinically indicated) collateral interviews with teachers or other service providers.

  • After the assessment is complete, we schedule a time to meet with you and share our understanding of your child’s needs. We’ll walk you through what we’ve learned and discuss our treatment recommendations, making sure you feel informed and supported as we plan the best path forward together.
