Little Kids Group Therapy
Ages 3–6
Targeted exposure practice. Real-world speaking goals. Support that feels like play.
The Little Kids Group is a weekly, in-person therapy group built for preschool and early elementary children with selective mutism or social anxiety. Each 90-minute session is designed to help kids practice brave talking in settings that feel like school, camp, or birthday parties.
We plan activities around age-appropriate speaking goals—raising a hand, responding to questions, greeting a peer, participating in circle time. Kids work one-on-one with trained clinicians while also experiencing the group as a whole. Every session blends structure and fun, with lots of repetition to help speaking become more natural.
The small group format creates a built-in audience for kids to practice speaking in front of others, while still feeling supported and safe. Sessions are playful and low-pressure, but the goals are serious.
Parents receive coaching and feedback between sessions so the progress doesn’t stop at the door.

Each session includes structured warm-ups, themed activities, group games, and individual exposure practice. Kids may participate in pretend play, classroom-style routines, show & tell, or movement games that involve vocal participation. Everything is adapted to each child’s individual goals.
We keep the group small. That way, every child has time to practice and space to warm up at their own pace. Some will start by whispering. Others may need a visual cue or a helper voice. We meet them where they are and help them stretch from there.

FAQs
-
This group is built for kids ages 3 to 6 with selective mutism or social anxiety who have difficulty speaking outside of home. We look at how your child communicates in public, at school, with new people, and in small groups.
-
It’s both. Sessions feel like play and classroom activities, but every part of it is designed around your child’s individual speaking goals. Our clinical team runs the group using exposure-based therapy techniques.
-
Not during sessions. But we do coach parents separately. Between sessions, you’ll receive guidance on how to support generalization at home, in the community, and at school.
-
It depends on the current group composition. If there’s an open spot and your child is ready, yes. If not, we’ll recommend the next available cycle.
-
Sometimes. For other children, group therapy works best when paired with individual or parent-based treatment. We’ll help figure out what’s best for your child.
-
Submit the interest form. We’ll reach out to schedule a discovery call and answer any questions. If group sounds like a good match, we’ll get your child scheduled for a brief intake and orientation before their first session.
